A Look Back at 2024 – My Family’s Year in Review

Do you ever arrive at the end of the year and wonder, What did I even do this year? That’s how I felt until I sat down to compile some personal photos from 2024. As it turns out, we packed this year full of adventures and memories!

My husband and I both juggle two jobs, so it’s a balancing act to fit it all in. But making childhood special for our kids is at the heart of everything we do. This is their childhood and our parenthood, after all—there are no do-overs!

For my own memory, here’s the grand list of what we squeezed into 2024:

  • Marino’s first snow experience—pure wonder!

  • Location scouting at the railroad.

  • Disney on Ice magic.

  • Adventure Aquarium’s real-life mermaids!

  • Marino’s first sleepover, giving mom and dad a chance to attend a Kentucky Derby-themed wedding.

  • Seasonal fun at Brecknock Orchard: strawberry picking, peach picking and festival, and apple picking.

  • A summer staycation filled with local adventures.

  • Day trips to the beach, feeling the sand and surf.

  • Fishing adventures with Grandma and Pop.

  • An unplugged weekend at the cabin to reset and reconnect.

  • The Philadelphia Zoo, where Estella loved the rhino, and Marino couldn’t get enough of the monkeys.

  • Endless rides and smiles at Dutch Wonderland.

  • Splash-filled pool parties and water balloon battles.

  • Tons of playdates and hours at the park.

  • An animal-filled day at Lake Tobias.

  • Celebrating Estella’s 5th birthday with a glow painting party (her very first friend party)—she dreams of being an artist.

  • Street fairs brimming with treats and rides.

  • Starting a new preschool closer to home, with Estella’s first-ever field trip!

  • A Super Simple 2nd birthday bash for Marino with family at home.

  • Trick-or-treating fun at Hands-on House and around our neighborhood.

  • Greenhouse visits and puppy cuddles.

  • Yoga, dance parties, and creative painting sessions at home.

  • A visit from an elf for the Christmas season

And that’s just the highlight reel. Looking back, it’s hard to believe we managed to do so much in a single year.
