I had the great pleasure of meeting baby Henry at the Portaro family's home for his newborn photos. He was just the sweetest little bundle, reminding me how quickly we forget just how tiny they are in those early days. What made this session extra special was that I had seen the Portaros nearly every month for the past few months, starting with their maternity session during my Wildflower Minis, then for their dog Sadie’s celebration of life portraits, and finally for Henry’s newborn session. It’s been such a joy to document these significant moments for them.
For Henry’s session, the family chose to stay in the comfort of their own home but opted to take the photos outside on their property—a decision I absolutely loved! (Have I mentioned how much I adore outdoor newborn sessions?) There's something about the natural light, the surrounding greenery, and the relaxed vibe that brings out such pure and beautiful moments. Mom and dad were beaming with pride and joy, completely captivated by their newest addition. It’s clear how thrilled they are to have Henry in their lives, and it was heartwarming to witness.
Big brother Jack brought his own vibrant energy to the session. Though he wasn’t entirely sure about posing with his new baby brother, he was brave enough to do some close-up shots with Henry. I have no doubt these photos will be cherished when the boys are older. We kept Jack entertained with bike rides and laps around the house, giving us plenty of time to focus on sweet Henry. And to top it off, we even managed to sneak in a couple of photos with Sadie toward the end of the session. What a blessing it was to have her there to meet her newest sibling—such a precious memory for this family.
One moment that really stood out to me was how dad looked at Henry with such love and protectiveness. You could feel the emotion in the air. And mom? She brought some lightness and laughter to the day. When I showed her a couple of photos on the back of my camera, she turned to her husband and said, “Joe! Look how handsome you are! They had to cut your baby out of me and I STILL love you!” That moment brought a smile to my face and a warmth to the session, perfectly capturing their fun dynamic as a couple.
If you’re looking for someone to capture these special first moments or milestone events in your family’s journey, I would be honored to be a part of it. There’s nothing better than being invited into these truly precious moments—the high points of your family’s story. https://www.tashaskyecreative.com/contact
