Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to capture a truly special maternity session at Royal Oaks Farm in Lebanon. This session was a beautiful blend of joy, anticipation, and deep family bonds, making it one of the most memorable shoots I've ever done.
It all started with a message from an old classmate who is expecting her first grandchild. She was over the moon and couldn't contain her excitement as she planned a special maternity session for her bonus daughter, Destiny. With a gorgeous gown, a hair appointment set, and makeup done by grandma herself, Destiny was glowing even before she stepped in front of the camera. Her son, Jake, also got cleaned up and ready for the shoot, adding to the anticipation and joy.
From the moment they arrived at the farm, the atmosphere was filled with love and excitement. Jake and Destiny's affection for each other was palpable, and the presence of grandma and Gigi, beaming with pride and encouragement, added a beautiful layer to the experience. It was heartwarming to see the previous generation embracing and supporting the next, their bonds a testament to the strong family ties that this baby boy will soon be a part of.
We decided to move up the session time by an hour to avoid a cluster of thunderstorms that were forecasted to come in later. This turned out to be a great decision—we missed the rain entirely and were blessed with some stunning cloud formations at the end of the session. The clouds added a dramatic backdrop to the photos, making the entire experience even more magical.
As we walked to the first spot for photos, Destiny admitted, "I'm not photogenic and I'm never in photos." Yet, she effortlessly posed and moved for the camera without any direction, her natural grace shining through. It's moments like these that remind me of the magic of photography—capturing people as their authentic selves, comfortable and confident in their own skin.
