If you know me, you know this is my absolute favorite time of the year! The temperatures have cooled, the trees are alight with gorgeous colors, and there's a spooky wind in the air.
My dad's birthday is on Halloween and I've always been jealous of that. What a fun day for a birthday! You get to dress up and get candy and it's almost like everyone around the world is celebrating with you.
Growing up around a lot of bikers, I have a huge affinity for skulls and dark colors. But what I love the most about Halloween is that it's arguably the most creative holiday of the year. You get to craft your own costume, pretend to be something or someone else, design and carve pumpkins. I don't really care about all the spooky stuff, horror movies, and haunted houses but give me all the colorful leaves, pumpkins, and hot apple cider!
While we didn't do a family costume like I had hoped, I did get to host a Halloween dinner for my dad! I've had the idea to host a Halloween dinner for years but the timing just never worked out before. So this year I just had to jump in. The meal didn't turn out quite as I had hoped but it's always fun to just spend time together. We had such a good time together that I completely forgot to take photos.
But, you can enjoy these cute snaps of Estella the lion.
"Each year, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch that he thinks is the most sincere. He's gotta pick this one. He's got to. I don't see how a pumpkin patch can be more sincere than this one. You can look around and there's not a sign of hypocrisy. Nothing but sincerity as far as the eye can see." -Charles M. Schulz
